Teeth WhiteningCost in Pakistan
Medically reviewed byDr. Saad Irfan— MDS, MSc, BDS·
Professional whitening lifts tooth shade using peroxide gels at concentrations that are not available over the counter, applied with the gums properly isolated. Across Pakistan it runs roughly PKR 15,000 to 50,000 depending on whether it is done in the clinic, at home under supervision, or both.
One thing worth knowing before you spend anything: whitening only works on natural tooth structure, and only on certain kinds of staining. It will not change the colour of a crown, a veneer or a composite filling. If you have a white filling in a front tooth, whitening the teeth around it will make that filling stand out more, not less.
It also will not fix everything. Surface staining from tea, coffee and tobacco responds well. Intrinsic discolouration — tetracycline banding, fluorosis, a tooth darkened after trauma — responds poorly or not at all, and is a veneer or bonding case rather than a whitening one.

The short version
- In-chair, take-home trays and a combination of both are three different products at three different prices, and the right one depends on the type of staining.
- Crowns, veneers and fillings do not whiten. If they are visible when you smile, whitening can leave them looking obviously darker or lighter than the teeth around them.
- Scaling is usually needed first. Whitening over surface staining and calculus produces a patchy result.
- Sensitivity during a course is common, temporary, and manageable, and it is a reason to slow the course down rather than abandon it.
Where the money goes
The stages you are paying for
This is not one appointment. Each stage below is separate work, and the gaps between them are healing time rather than delay.
Assessment and shade record
The starting shade is recorded so the change is measured rather than remembered. Existing restorations are identified at this point, because they will not change colour.
Scaling if needed
Surface deposits are removed so the gel reaches enamel evenly. Skipping this is the usual cause of a patchy result.
Whitening
In-chair treatment runs around 60 to 90 minutes with the gums isolated. Take-home trays are worn over roughly two weeks instead.
Shade check and maintenance
The result is recorded against the starting shade. Top-up trays hold it, and how long it lasts depends mostly on tea, coffee and smoking.
Teeth Whitening prices across Pakistan in 2026
The three approaches differ in how fast they work rather than in how white they eventually get. Supervised take-home whitening often reaches the same endpoint as in-clinic; it just takes two weeks instead of an hour.
| Type | Market range (PKR) |
|---|---|
Take-home whitening kit Custom trays plus professional-strength gel, worn at home for one to two weeks. Slowest, gentlest, and usually the best value. | 15,000 – 25,000 |
In-clinic laser or light-activated One appointment, around 45 to 60 minutes. Immediate visible change. Higher chance of short-term sensitivity. | 25,000 – 40,000 |
In-clinic plus take-home top-up In-clinic session for the immediate lift, trays to extend and maintain it. The most durable result of the three. | 35,000 – 50,000 |
Overall market range: PKR 15,000 – 50,000 per course. These are prices observed across dental practices in Pakistan, published so you can set a realistic budget and judge whether a quote you have been given is reasonable. They are not Dr Saad Dentistry’s prices. See how our pricing works.
What makes the price go up or down
What kind of staining you have
Extrinsic surface staining responds quickly. Intrinsic discolouration inside the tooth responds slowly, partially, or not at all.
How many sessions you need
Heavily stained teeth may need more than one appointment, or a longer take-home course, to reach a stable result.
Whether scaling is needed first
Whitening gel cannot penetrate calculus. Teeth have to be professionally cleaned first or the result comes out patchy.
Existing restorations in the smile line
Crowns, veneers and composite fillings do not whiten. If they are visible, they may need replacing after whitening to match — which changes the total cost considerably.
Baseline sensitivity
Sensitive teeth may need a desensitising course before and during whitening, and a lower-concentration protocol over more days.
Should be inside the figure
- Shade assessment and photographs before and after
- Examination to confirm whitening is suitable and safe
- Gum barrier protection during in-clinic treatment
- The whitening gel itself
- Custom trays where take-home whitening is part of the plan
- Post-treatment desensitising and aftercare guidance
Use this as a checklist when comparing quotes. A figure that leaves out half the list is not cheaper, it is incomplete.
Usually priced separately
- Scaling and polishing beforehandUsually required. Whitening over calculus produces an uneven result.
- Replacing visible fillings afterwardsComposite in the smile line will no longer match once surrounding teeth lighten.
- Top-up gelResults fade gradually. Most people top up every twelve to eighteen months.
- Internal bleachingA different technique for a single dark tooth after root canal treatment. Priced separately.
These sit outside the headline figure and are the usual reason a final bill exceeds expectations. Not all of them will apply to you.

Which option are you considering?
These are the tiers the Pakistani market actually splits into. They are different products, so averaging them into one figure would mislead you.

Against the alternatives
This is not the only option worth pricing
The comparison worth making runs over ten years rather than one appointment. Cheapest on the day and cheapest overall are frequently different treatments.
Teeth Whitening
15k – 50k
The treatment this guide covers, per course.
Scaling and polishing alone
4k – 15k
Where the discolouration is surface staining from tea, coffee or smoking rather than the natural shade of the tooth, a clean can achieve most of what people want and costs a fraction of a whitening course.
Compare properlyVeneers
8k – 70k
The answer where the tooth is intrinsically dark, for example after trauma or tetracycline staining, and will not respond to bleaching. Far more expensive and irreversible, so it is a decision made after whitening has been tried.

How prices compare across Pakistani cities
| Karachi | Widest availability of in-clinic systems and the largest spread in price. |
| Lahore | Comparable, with good access to both in-clinic and take-home options. |
| Islamabad | Generally slightly higher. |
| Smaller cities | Lower prices, with take-home protocols more common than in-clinic systems. |
Why the cheapest option often costs more
Whitening is the treatment most often done badly outside a clinical setting, and the damage is not always reversible.
The main risks are chemical burns to the gums where no barrier was placed, and enamel damage from unregulated high-concentration gels sold online. Salon and mall whitening in particular is usually performed by people with no clinical training and no ability to assess whether your teeth are even suitable.
There is also a diagnostic problem. Whitening a tooth that is dark because it is dying will not lighten it, and it delays the root canal that tooth actually needs. An examination first is not an upsell; it is what determines whether whitening will work at all.
The other thing worth understanding: expectations. Teeth have a natural maximum brightness. A good practice will tell you roughly what shade is achievable for you before taking your money, rather than after.
Payment in stages
Whitening is usually a single payment as it is a short course of treatment. Practices often bundle it with scaling, which is required beforehand in any case.
How we quote
Everything above is the Pakistani market. For your own case we quote after an examination rather than before it, because the figures on this page move substantially depending on findings we cannot assess without looking: bone condition, canal anatomy, how much sound tooth structure is actually left.
A consultation is PKR 2,000, the same at all three clinics. It covers a full examination, the diagnostic X-rays needed on the day, and a written treatment plan with every item priced separately. You are under no obligation to proceed with any of it.
Questions
Teeth Whitening cost, asked plainly
How much does teeth whitening cost in Pakistan?
Take-home kits generally PKR 15,000 to 25,000, in-clinic laser whitening PKR 25,000 to 40,000, and a combined approach PKR 35,000 to 50,000.
Is in-clinic whitening better than a take-home kit?
It is faster, not necessarily whiter. In-clinic gives an immediate result in one appointment; supervised take-home usually reaches a similar endpoint over one to two weeks and costs less.
How long do the results last?
Typically one to three years depending on diet and smoking. Heavy tea, coffee and tobacco use will shorten that considerably.
Does whitening damage enamel?
Professionally supervised whitening at clinical concentrations does not. Unregulated high-concentration gels bought online, used without trays or gum protection, genuinely can.
Will whitening work on my crowns or veneers?
No. Ceramic and composite do not respond to bleaching at all. If they sit in your smile line they may need replacing afterwards to match your new shade.
Why are my teeth sensitive after whitening?
Peroxide temporarily opens the dentinal tubules. It usually settles within 48 hours and desensitising gel helps. Tell your dentist if it persists beyond a few days.
Can everyone have their teeth whitened?
No. Active decay, untreated gum disease and certain kinds of intrinsic staining all need addressing first — and some discolouration will not respond to whitening at any concentration.
Is salon or mall whitening safe?
It is generally best avoided. There is no clinical assessment, often no proper gum barrier, and no way to know whether the discolouration you have will respond to bleaching at all.
How white can my teeth actually get?
It depends on your starting shade and the type of staining. A realistic expectation is several shades lighter, not uniform Hollywood white. A good practice will tell you before you pay.
Do I need scaling first?
Almost always. Gel cannot penetrate calculus, so whitening over an uncleaned surface gives a patchy result.
What about whitening toothpaste?
It removes surface stain through mild abrasion. It cannot change your underlying tooth shade, which is what professional whitening does.
Can I whiten while wearing braces?
No — the brackets mask the tooth surface underneath and you would end up with patches. Whitening is done after debonding.
People also ask about teeth whitening cost
How long does professional teeth whitening last?
Commonly one to three years, and the range is that wide because it is decided by habits rather than by the treatment. Heavy tea, coffee, cola or smoking will shorten it substantially.
Is in-office whitening better than home kits?
It is faster and supervised, with the gums protected and a stronger gel. Custom take-home trays reach a similar end point over about two weeks. Over-the-counter strips are weaker than both and cannot be shaped to your teeth.
Will whitening damage my enamel?
Supervised whitening at professional concentrations has a long safety record. The genuine risks are gum irritation from poorly fitting trays and temporary sensitivity, both of which are managed by doing it under supervision rather than from a shop.
Why did my crown not whiten?
Because ceramic and composite do not respond to bleaching gel at all. Only natural tooth structure lightens. Where a visible crown no longer matches after whitening, replacing it is the only way to bring it back into line.
