Usable byeveryone
A dental website is often read by someone in pain, on a phone, in poor light, at two in the morning. Accessibility is not a compliance exercise on a page like that — it is whether the person can find the phone number. This statement sets out what we have done, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.
At a glance
- We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the site.
- Every colour is checked against a contrast budget by an automated build check.
- Animation respects your system's reduced-motion setting.
- Clifton Block 9 is our step-free, ground-floor clinic with mall parking.
Our Commitment
We want every patient to be able to use this website, whatever device they use and whatever assistive technology they rely on. We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA as our working standard. We treat that as a floor rather than a certificate. Meeting a checklist and being genuinely usable are not the same thing, and the second one is the point.
What Is Already in Place
Colour and contrast
Every colour on this site comes from a single defined palette, and an automated check runs against the codebase to catch any colour used outside it. Body text and interactive labels are held to the WCAG AA contrast ratio. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed — anything shown by colour is also shown by text, shape or position.
Structure and navigation
Pages use a proper heading hierarchy with exactly one H1, landmark regions, and descriptive link text rather than 'click here'. Every page is reachable by keyboard alone, focus order follows reading order, and the focus indicator is visible.
Motion
The site respects the reduced-motion preference in your operating system. Switch it on and animations, parallax and transitions stop. Nothing on the site flashes, and nothing auto-plays with sound.
Images and media
Images carry alternative text describing what they show. Decorative images are marked as decorative so a screen reader skips them rather than announcing a filename.
Forms
Form fields have visible labels, not placeholder text pretending to be labels. Errors are described in words and associated with the field they belong to.
Text and zoom
Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content or function, and layouts reflow rather than requiring horizontal scrolling.
Plain language
Clinical terms are explained the first time they appear. We would rather write a longer sentence than leave a patient guessing what 'apicoectomy' means.
What We Know Is Not Yet Right
Publishing a statement that claims everything is perfect would be the least useful thing we could do here. Current known limitations:
- The embedded Google Maps on our contact and location pages are third-party components and we do not control their internal accessibility. Every address is also written out in plain text, and directions links are provided separately, so no information exists only inside the map.
- Some older blog articles predate our current image-description standard and have shorter alternative text than we would now write.
- A small number of downloadable PDFs are not fully tagged for screen readers. If you need the content of one in an accessible format, ask and we will send it to you directly.
- We do not yet offer an Urdu-language version of the full site. Urdu content is being added progressively, and every clinic serves patients in Urdu in person.
These are on the list rather than being quietly ignored. Where a barrier is reported to us, it moves to the front of it.
Getting Into the Clinics
Clifton Block 9
Ground floor of Vincy Mall, with mall parking and step-free access from the car park. This is the clinic we recommend to wheelchair users, to patients using a walking frame, and to anyone who finds stairs difficult.
DHA Phase 5 and DHA Phase 8
Both are street-level commercial units with parking outside. If you have a mobility need, call the clinic before you travel and we will tell you exactly what the access is like and arrange help at the entrance. We would rather answer that question honestly on the phone than have you arrive and find out.
At the appointment
- Longer appointment slots for patients with anxiety, sensory sensitivity, or a condition that makes a standard slot difficult — ask when you book.
- Consultations in English, Urdu and Sindhi depending on the clinician.
- You may bring an interpreter, a support worker, or a family member into the treatment room.
- Tell us about an access need at booking and it will be arranged before you arrive.
Telling Us About a Barrier
If you could not do something on this site, we want to know — including the small things. Email contact@drsaaddentistry.pk or call +92 313 3466661.
What helps us fix it fast
- The page you were on.
- What you were trying to do.
- What happened instead.
- Your device, browser, and any assistive technology you were using.
We acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 working days and aim to fix or provide a workaround within 10. If a fix will take longer, we will tell you when to expect it and give you another way to get what you needed in the meantime.
If the website is standing between you and dental care, do not wait for us to fix it. Call or WhatsApp and a person will book you in directly.
Statement Details
This statement applies to drsaaddentistry.pk and all of its sections. Tell us what you were trying to do and what stopped you. Access barriers are treated as defects, not as feature requests, and they go to the front of the queue.
