Root Canal Treatment
Most people in Karachi avoid the dentist when tooth pain starts. They take a painkiller and hope it goes away. Sometimes it does. But when the infection reaches the pulp inside the tooth, painkillers stop working. The pain becomes constant. It wakes you up at night. It spreads to the jaw and ear. At that point, you need a root canal treatment — and you need it done properly. At Dr. Saad Irfan Dentistry across DHA Phase 5, DHA Phase 8, and Clifton, Karachi, root canals are performed under a Zeiss dental operating microscope at 24x magnification — the gold standard in endodontics — so the infected tissue is removed completely, not partially. Dr. Saad Irfan holds an MDS in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Sheffield, UK, and has performed root canal procedures for over 15 years at his DHA clinics, while senior dental surgeon Dr. Abdul Sami Shaikh leads endodontic care at our Clifton clinic. A front tooth root canal starts from Rs 18,000, a premolar from Rs 22,000 and a molar from Rs 28,000, with the exact figure confirmed in writing once the X-ray shows the canal count. The procedure is fully painless using our Wand computer-controlled anesthesia system. Most patients need 1 to 2 visits.

What is Root Canal Treatment?
Root canal treatment — also called endodontic treatment — is a procedure that removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth. Inside every tooth is a soft core called the dental pulp. The pulp contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When bacteria enter the pulp through a crack, deep cavity, or broken filling, the pulp becomes infected. This is called pulpitis. Left untreated, the infection spreads to the bone surrounding the tooth root, forming a periapical abscess. Root canal treatment stops this process. The infected pulp is removed. The root canals are cleaned, shaped, and disinfected. They are then sealed with a material called gutta-percha to prevent reinfection. A crown is placed over the tooth afterward to restore its strength and function. The natural tooth is saved. No extraction needed.

Benefits of Root Canal Treatment

Treatment Procedure
7 stagesDiagnosis and digital OPG X-ray to assess infection extent, number of canals, root length, and bone loss at the tip. Treatment plan and cost estimate provided before any commitment.
Anesthesia using the Wand computer-controlled system — delivers anesthetic slowly at controlled pressure. Most patients feel nothing, not even the injection. Pressure during treatment, never pain.
Rubber dam placement around the tooth to isolate it from saliva and bacteria. Standard safety measure in proper endodontic practice. Keeps the canal sterile during treatment.
Access opening made in the top of the tooth. Infected dental pulp removed using precision rotary endodontic files. Under the Zeiss 24x microscope, every branch of the canal system is visible.
Each root canal shaped using rotary NiTi files and irrigated with sodium hypochlorite to disinfect all organic tissue. Apex locator measures exact canal length to ensure cleaning reaches full root depth.
Once canals are completely clean and dry, they are filled with gutta-percha — a biocompatible rubber material — and sealed with sealer cement to prevent bacteria from re-entering.
Zirconia or PFM crown placed over the tooth at a follow-up appointment to protect the more brittle root-canalled tooth and restore full chewing function.

What moves the figure
Tooth type — front teeth (1 canal) cost less than molars (3-4 canals)
Complexity of canal anatomy (curved, calcified, or missed canals)
Whether retreatment of a previously failed root canal is needed
Crown material chosen after the root canal (zirconia vs PFM)

Why Choose Dr. Saad for Root Canal Treatment?
Zeiss 24x Dental Operating Microscope
Root canals performed under 24x magnification — the global standard recommended by the American Association of Endodontists. Identifies missed canals, micro-cracks, and ensures complete infection removal. Available at very few clinics in Pakistan.
Wand Computer-Controlled Anesthesia
The Wand delivers anesthetic at a slow, controlled pressure so most patients feel nothing — not even the injection. True painless root canal, not just a marketing claim.
MDS-Trained Endodontic Expertise
Dr. Saad holds an MDS in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Sheffield, UK — which includes advanced endodontic training beyond the standard BDS curriculum. 15+ years of clinical experience.
Rubber Dam Isolation Standard
Every root canal at our clinic uses rubber dam isolation to keep the canal sterile during treatment. This is standard protocol in proper endodontic practice and significantly reduces reinfection risk.
Apex Locator and Rotary NiTi Files
Canal length is measured electronically to the exact millimeter using an apex locator. Rotary NiTi files shape canals faster and more precisely than hand files, reducing procedure time.
Open 9AM to 11PM, 7 Days
Dental infections do not wait. All three clinics (DHA Phase 5, DHA Phase 8, and Clifton Block 9) are open daily including weekends and public holidays. Emergency root canal appointments available.
